'Swing' from the Bossanova winery in Abruzzo is a macerated white wine of extraordinary sweetness and vivacity resulting from a truly artisanal approach to production. The name of this label and of the Bossanova estate itself is a testament to the passion for music of owners Andrea Quaglia and Nat Colantonio, one a former manager and the other a musician. Bossanova is, in fact, the name of a well-known Brazilian musical genre that emerged in the 1950s, while swing originated in the 1920s in the United States as an evolution of jazz and blues and was recognised as a musical genre in its own right in 1935. The varieties Andrea and Nat grew are mainly traditional varieties from the Teramo hills, namely Montepulciano and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo.
Bossanova "Swing" is made exclusively from white grapes grown organically and biodynamically at 230 metres above sea level. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are transferred to the winery and partly vinified in vitrified cement vats. Alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously here, thanks to the intervention of indigenous yeasts alone, and is accompanied by maceration on the skins for around 10 days.
On visual inspection, the macerated white wine "Swing" from the Bossanova artisanal winery has an intense golden yellow colour. The range of aromas recalls fine and distinct fruity, floral and herbaceous notes of yellow-fleshed fruit, fresh flowers and aromatic herbs. The balance on the palate is excellent, with a very fresh, lively progression and a playful, mineral soul. This macerated white is ideal with lightly matured goat's cheeses or starters based on various vegetables.
