'Casilla Verde' is a dry white wine from Andalusia that captures the essence of the Mediterranean. Made from pure Palomino Fino grapes, it elegantly matures in barriques, giving it a unique personality. On the palate it is fresh, vibrant, with a bouquet that evokes aromatic herbs, juicy citrus fruits, fresh fruit and an unmistakable saline note, reminiscent of the sea. A sip that tells of the sunshine of southern Spain!
The Blanco de Albariza 'Casilla Verde' produced by the Spanish winery Bodegas Del Rio is a dry white wine with a strong saline component, born of Jerez's Mediterranean terroir. The appellation 'Blanco de Albariza' refers to the characteristic type of soil where the grapes destined for this label grow. Albariza, from the Spanish word 'albo', which is a synonym for 'blanco', is a light soil with a high chalk content, hence the white appearance of the soil, also rich in clay, limestone and sand. Among the advantages of this type of soil is its ability to store water during the wetter months and make it available to plants during the dry season. In addition, the characteristic white aspect acts as a mirror, reflecting the sun's rays and thus increasing the photosynthetic activity of the vines.
The 'Casilla Verde' Bodegas Del Rio Blanco de Albariza is a 100% Palomino Fino from old vines on the 'Casilla Verde' estate, from which the wine derives its name. The vines grow on the Albariza soil and in the winery the vinification is carried out in white, with gentle pressing and subsequent alcoholic fermentation of the must in barriques. The maturation process of 7 months, entirely spent on the fine lees, takes place in the same type of wine container.
To the eye, Bodegas Del Rio's 'Casilla Verde' Blanco de Albariza reveals an intense straw yellow colour reminiscent of lemon peel. The aromatic bouquet is described by sensations of citrus and aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean maquis blending with iodised marine hints. Taste development is fresh, dynamic and with great personality, characterised by a pleasant and energetic saline timbre accompanying the closure of good persistence.
