Brunello di Montalcino La Casaccia di Franceschi 2019

La Casaccia di Franceschi's Brunello di Montalcino is a fine wine that comes from the Fabbrica vineyard in the heart of southern Montalcino. Manual harvesting in two passages, whereby yields are reduced for greater concentration, and the optical selection of the grapes guarantee impeccable raw material. Notes of plum, blue flowers and leather emerge on the nose, while the palate reveals a perfect balance of fruit, tannins and freshness. To be left in the cellar to be amazed

BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO LA CASACCIA DI FRANCESCHI 2019 DESCRIPTION

The Brunello di Montalcino signed La Casaccia di Franceschi represents an expression of the appellation with a modern and spicy style. At the helm of the La Casaccia di Franceschi estate is Leopoldo Franceschi, a fifth-generation producer assisted by his young children Flavia and Federico. The cornerstone guiding the family's production is the search for qualitative excellence, an objective pursued through the adoption of various practices and expedients, such as the use of avant-garde technologies, the recourse to severe selection of the bunches of grapes and the use of high quality wood.

La Casaccia di Franceschi Brunello di Montalcino is made from pure Sangiovese Grosso grapes grown on sandy and clayey-textured soils formed by marine sediments from the Pliocene era, at an altitude of 370 metres above sea level. Harvesting is carried out manually in October in two stages, followed by selection of the bunches using an optical selector. The grapes are then mash in stainless steel tanks, containers in which alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, combined with 20 days of maceration on the skins using the submerged cap technique. Once the malolactic fermentation is complete, the mass is transferred to 33 hectolitre Allier oak barrels for ageing for 36 months prior to final release.

The Brunello di Montalcino from the family-run La Casaccia di Franceschi winery has an intense garnet red colour with ruby highlights. The aromas range from vivid notes of morello cherry and violet to hints of vanilla and liquorice, all with hints of cocoa in the background. Decisive, full-bodied and very fresh on the palate, where the tight tannic texture accompanies the persistent spicy finish.
