CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY PREMIER CRU 'LES HAUTS DOIX' ROBERT GROFFIER 2018 DESCRIPTION

Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru "Les Hauts Doix" from Domaine Robert Groffier is an extraordinary version of Pinot Noir, all played on the elegance and refined expressive finesse typical of this extraordinary terroir, which can boast no fewer than 24 Climats classified Premier Cru and 3 Grand Cru. The small hamlet of Chambolle-Musigny is located between Moray-Saint-Denis, the winery's headquarters, and Vouget, right in the center of the Côte de Nuits, which has always been famous for producing some of the best red wines in the world. The small family domaine still works with extraordinary passion and love for its land, producing a range of excellent, classically styled labels.

"Les Hauts Doix" Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru from Domaine Robert Groffier is the fruit of an ancient savoir-faire. The estate is managed by Nicolas and Julie Groffier, who can count on eight hectares of property distributed in parcels of the highest quality. The domaine's style is inspired by the search for finesse, which is expressed in wines with a harmonious and silky texture, elegant and long-lived. The Pinot Noir grapes come from a parcel located within the Premier Cru "Les Hauts Doix," which is located in the southeastern part of the Chambolle-Musigny communal area, in a particularly prized area, right on the border with the famous Les Amoureuses cru. The vines are grown on soils of a limestone nature, shallow, resting directly on the parent rock. The rich presence of crushed stone and pebbles makes them poor and very draining, ideal for quality viticulture based on high planting density and low yields. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, and the wine matures for at least a year in French oak barrels.

Domaine Robert Groffier's Premier Cru "Les Hauts Doix" Chambolle-Musigny holds true to the reputation of Pinot Noirs from this terroir, which has always been known for the delicacy of its wines, which are among the finest in the entire Côte de Nuits. In the glass, it is bright ruby red in color. The bouquet gives splendid floral nuances of violet, iris, dried flowers, aromas of raspberry, red currant, morello cherry and wild strawberries, hints of licorice root and delicate spices. The sip is harmonious, soft, with a very elegant tannic texture and a smooth, fresh and savory finish.
