The Chianti Classico by Monteraponi is a genuine, true and charming expression from Tuscany: a vigorous but easy drinking red wine aged for abpout 16 months in big oak barrels. Scents of humus, green pepper and red fruits invite to a full-bodied, mineral and dynamic taste
Monteraponi's Chianti Classico is a sparkling wine that well brings out the unique territorial qualities traceable to the commune of Radda in Chianti. Straightforward and infectious pleasantness. It bewitches with the progression that slowly takes shape in the glass. It wants to be drunk again and again.
The Sangiovese grapes, plus the addition of a very small percentage of Canaiolo, come from vines more than 15 years old located from 450 up to 570 meters above sea level, on soils of a calcareous nature, rich in Alberese and Galestro. Agriculture follows the dictates of organic farming, confirming the expressive research and dialogue that has been established between the winery and its vineyards. The grapes are harvested by hand and, once at the winery, are crushed and destemmed. Fermentation is spontaneous and takes place in vitrified cement containers, with a maceration of about 25 days, through daily pumping over and punching down that is done manually. The wine is neither clarified nor filtered. Having also undergone malolactic fermentation in the same concrete containers, the wine is sent to age in large Slavonian oak barrels for a period of 16 months. The wine spends an additional month again in cement, where it is decanted and bottled by gravity.
Chianti Classico shows a pale ruby red color, crystal clear. A pleasant balance emerges on the nose between balsamic verve, hints of Mediterranean scrub and minerality imprinted in the grapes. Fruity sensations of underbrush and jam with a dusting of spices complete the aromatic bouquet. A pleasant combination of fresh and mineral emerges on the palate, it is crisp, savory, persistent, with silky tannins to remark the elegance of this Chianti Classico. Chianti character to the core!
