CLOS SAINT-DENIS GRAND CRU DOMAINE STEPHANE MAGNIEN 2018 DESCRIPTION

Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru is one of the spearheads of Domaine Stephane Magnien, a true excellence of the famous Côte de Nuits territory. It is a small, high-quality production of only 1,500 bottles a year, which are always highly sought after by the most discerning connoisseurs and refined collectors of the great wines of Burgundy. It is a label born from a maniacal care in the vineyard, followed by traditional and delicate vinification, A savoir-faire that gives a wine of extraordinary finesse and elegance. Because of its concentration and structure, it is a bottle to keep a few years in the cellar before tasting.

Domaine Stephane Magnien's Grand Cru Clos Saint-Denis is the fruit of a family estate that has been cultivating vines in the lands of Burgundy for several generations. The Pinot Noir grapes come from the historic Clos-Saint-Denis, where this old 32-acre parcel, planted in the early 1970s and characterized by limestone-rich soil, is cultivated. All work in the vineyard is done by hand with great care and attention, with the sole objective of obtaining a few bunches per plant, characterized by great aromatic concentration. Harvesting is done manually, with selection of the bunches in the vineyard, and fermentation takes place spontaneously, with indigenous yeasts and maceration on the skins for a few weeks. The wine rests for about a year in French oak tonneaux, with 35% new wood. Bottling takes place without clarification or filtration.

Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru Domaine Stephane Magnien is a fine bottle, the child of a fine terroir, which allows you to appreciate a great Pinot Noir, made with great craftsmanship. It presents itself with a beautiful bright ruby-red color. The bouquet, elegant and intense, gives away aromas of small red berries, delicately spiced hints of licorice root, medicinal herbs and noble woods. On the palate, the complex aromatic facet is supported by a tannic texture of remarkable finesse. The finish is very harmonious, with a balanced freshness and good flavor persistence.
