Eraldo Revelli's Dogliani 'Autin Lungh' owes its name to the vineyard from which it originates, 'Autin Lungh,' due to its elongated morphological conformation. Produced with Dolcetto grapes, this wine is characterized by a rich and fresh, extremely balanced sip, and a bouquet in which notes of ripe red fruits and slight spicy memories stand out
Dogliani 'Autin Lungh', made by Eraldo Revelli's Piedmontese winery, is a pure Dolcetto that expresses the characteristics of the sorì of the same name, named after the particular elongated shape of the plot. The perfect exposure to the sun - the sorì were traditionally the places where the winter snow melted first - allows excellent ripening with grapes that have particularly rich and intense aromas. The delicate, low-extraction vinification and the use of steel only, allows the varietal characteristics of Dolcetto, its fruity aromas and expressive fragrance to be brought out.
"Autin Lungh" is a Dogliani from an estate that has always been committed to producing wines that are straightforward and authentic. For several generations, the Eraldo Revelli winery has cultivated vineyards in Belvedere Langhe, just a stone's throw from Dogliani. The grapes come exclusively from a single parcel, 'Autin Lungh', located in the beautiful hilly area of Farigliano at an altitude of 460 metres above sea level with a south-westerly exposure. The climate is mild and breezy, and the soils are composed of clay, limestone and tuff, which have always been suited to the cultivation of Dolcetto. The vineyard is about 20 years old and is harvested manually towards the end of September. The best grapes are sent to fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with maceration on the skins lasting about a week, with daily pumping over. Before bottling, the wine matures for 5-6 months in steel tanks.
Eraldo Revelli's red Dogliani 'Autin Lungh' is an excellent version of the most classic wine from this hilly area of Piedmont. On the table it goes very well with first courses with meat sauces, roast white meats and spit-roasted poultry. To the eye it has a lively dark ruby colour with purple reflections. The bouquet is pleasantly fruity, with aromas of ripe cherries, small dark berries, currants, moara, morello cherries, floral touches and hints of soft spices. Flowing and agile on the palate, it is of medium structure, with harmonious and well-integrated tannins, aromas of crunchy fruit and a well-balanced finish with good persistence.
