Efeso white wine comes from the ancient Mantonico grape, an indigenous grape variety of Calabria. The winemaking process developed by Cantina Librandi makes it a wine with a fresh, aromatic taste with a pleasant fruity aftertaste.
The Librandi winery is in Cirò Marina, a town on the Ionian coast of Calabria near Punta Alice, a southern promontory of the Gulf of Taranto. This area is particularly suited for cultivating vines, thanks to the natural predisposition of the soil and sunny geographical position, a short distance from the sea and the Sila mountains. Furthermore, this position ensures an excellent temperature range between day and night, bringing the grapes to perfect ripeness most easily and simply possible. Winemakers for four generations, the winery became a modern winemaking and bottling complex in the early 1950s.
The main aim of Antonio and Nicodemo, at the helm of this historic winery, has always been to pay more attention to native Calabrian grape varieties, too often forgotten in the last years of winemaking in Calabria. Thanks to this winery, some native grape varieties have recovered their former luster, becoming the spokespeople for the viticulture of the highest territorial quality.
