Garnacha Lar de Maia is an excellence from the hundred-year-old vineyards of Terra de Castilla y León. This wine boasts traditional vinification, with careful selection both in the vineyard and in the cellar. After ageing in French oak barrels for over 14 months and a further 12 months in the bottle, it has an intense garnet colour and an elegant bouquet of black fruits, violets and a subtle mineral background. Well structured and velvety, it is the perfect companion for special moments
In the heart of the beautiful region of Castilla y León, lies Lar de Maía's Garnacha from the family winery, dedicated to producing quality wines in a traditional manner, paying careful attention to every phase of the process to achieve the best results. The story of this enterprise begins with experience in the wine sector gained by working for other wineries and with the strong passion that drove them to realize their dream on their own. In 2015, Lar de Maía came to life, pursuing the goal of creating wines with unique personalities, caring for both the primary product, wine, and the bottle design. The aim is to allow the consumer, from the first glance at the label, to perceive the soul of their wines, which leave an indelible mark.
The philosophy guiding Lar de Maia's work is to produce natural wines, without additives, that best express the character of the terroir and the grapes, like this Garnacha. Their vineyards, managed sustainably and naturally, are carefully cultivated to preserve their essence and main characteristics. Much of the grapes come from centuries-old vineyards, contributing to the quality excellence of their wines. Additionally, among the vineyards, various varieties of cereals are cultivated, thus maintaining a unique ecosystem that gives the grapes of this land a truly complex character. Moving on to the production technique, the grapes are harvested by hand, carefully selected both in the vineyard and in the cellar, and then destemmed. Malolactic fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels, followed by aging, always in French oak barrels, for at least 14 months and subsequent bottle aging for 12 months.
Speaking of its sensory characteristics, Lar de Maía's Garnacha presents itself with an intense garnet color with violet reflections. Its elegant and intense aroma recalls black fruits, violets, and smoky notes with a mineral background. In the mouth, it reveals itself as meaty, powerful, and well-structured, with a velvety entry and a very balanced palate. A full-bodied and very persistent wine, perfect to pair with robust and structured dishes.
