GEWURZTRAMINER VENDEMMIA TARDIVA AIMÉ STENTZ 2018 DESCRIPTION

The Gewurztraminer Vendemmia Tardiva from Aimé Stentz's Alsatian winery is a sweet wine, aromatically very dense and complex, which seduces with intense aromas and the enveloping softness of its sip. This aromatic variety, which originated in central Europe from a spontaneous genetic mutation of the Traminer vine, has adapted very well to the climate and soils of Alsace must have been cultivated for centuries with results of absolute excellence.

Gewurztraminer Vendemmia Tardiva sweet wine is produced by a small family-run winery founded in the early 1900s. To the 4 hectares of the original nucleus of the winery, other plots were gradually added until the current 14 hectares were cultivated under organic farming. The domaine Aimé Stentz includes 4 prestigious Grand Cru of Alasatia: Rosenberg, Steingrübler, Hengst and Sommerberg, which have always produced grapes of the highest quality. Gewurztraminer vines are grown on hard, compact limestone marl soils. After manual harvesting, which takes place late in the harvest to allow the aromas to concentrate, the grapes are softly pressed, and the must bloom ferments in stainless steel tanks. The wine matures on the fine lees for 12 months in oak barrels.

Aimé Stentz's white Gewurztraminer Vendemmia Tardiva is a wine of considerable appeal. It is a sweet wine of great varietal typicity, interpreted in a way that enhances the natural softness and exuberant aromatic charge of Gewurztraminer. In the goblet, it is bright golden yellow in colour. The bouquet is very intense, with aromas of ripe yellow fruit, candied citrus peel, tropical fruit, floral and delicately spiced nuances. The taste is smooth, with complex and enveloping aromas. The sweet fruit finds the right balance in a fresh and harmonious finish.
