LAMBRUSCO 'RIO VALLI' MONTE DELLE VIGNE 2022 DESCRIPTION

With its lively and appropriately rustic character, the Lambrusco 'Riovalli' from the Emilian estate Monte delle Vigne faithfully expresses the attributes of Lambrusco grape wines. In fact, the Lambrusco family encompasses a wide variety of grape types, whose name derives from the Latin term "labrusca," which identifies a wild vine. The success of Lambrusco wines, whether Maestri, Grasparossa, Sorbara, and so on, dates back particularly to the 1980s when these characteristic sparkling red wines found wide appreciation in the US and Northern European markets.

Monte delle Vigne 'Riovalli' Lambrusco consists of a blend of Lambrusco Maestri (85%) and Lambrusco Grasparossa (15%) grapes, grown under certified organic farming on clay and limestone soils. The plants, about 20 years old, benefit from southwest exposure and an altitude of 200 meters above sea level. Harvesting takes place between September and October with manual harvesting accompanied by careful selection of the bunches, which are then vinified through an alcoholic fermentation of about 20 days in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, partly on the skins. Instead, the subsequent sparkling process takes place in steel autoclaves according to the Charmat Method, and after a short rest in the bottle, the wine is finally ready for commercialization.

The Monte delle Vigne 'Riovalli' Lambrusco is an intense ruby red color with violet reflections. On the nose, vivid fruity perceptions emerge, reminiscent of sour cherry, cherry, and berries, accompanied by typical winey accents. The taste is balanced and fragrant, with good structure, lively freshness, and a hint of tannin that anticipates the sensations of black fruits on the finish.
