The Pet-Nat Frizzante Malvasia from the Friulian craft enterprise San Lurins is a lively, nautical interpretation of the traditional Malvasia Istriana grape variety. We are in the municipality of San Lorenzo Isontino, on the right bank of the river Isonzo, a place where the Pecorari family has been handing down farming knowledge for generations. Marco Pecorari, the current owner of the small family estate, wanted to pay homage to his grandfather Mario, a tireless worker, by dedicating the winery's logo to him.
Pet-Nat Malvasia Frizzante di San Lurins is made from pure Malvasia Istriana grapes from vines over 50 years old that are grown according to the dictates of certified organic farming. The vines are planted on a plateau consisting of calcareous clayey red soil of alluvial origin. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand in crates at a slightly early stage, so as to ensure that the wine contains a significant amount of organic acids. At this point, the grapes are softly pressed, with only the flower must thus obtained being cold decanted for 12-15 hours before alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. In spring, after a few months of refinement on the fine lees, the wine is drawn off directly into the bottle, followed by at least 18 months of rest before final marketing, carried out without disgorging.
Pet-Nat San Lurins Malvasia Frizzante presents itself in the glass with a soft, lively greenish-yellow colour and a turbidity due to the suspended yeasts. The nose reveals fragrant aromas of crisp white fruit and aromatic herbs, combined with hints of bakery and marine nuances reminiscent of salt crystals. Fresh, agile and pleasantly crisp on the palate, where an incisive savoury trail accompanies an excellently smooth finish.
