Mezcal 'San Luis' Derrumbes

The Mezcal "San Luis" from Derrumbes is a distillate produced in the Central Plateau of Mexico, in the state of San Luìs Potosì. The Derrumbes distillery was born from the idea of representing the artisan dimensions of all Mexico, thanks to 'single origin' spirits. The agave used for this mezcal is Salmiana, a wild variety that gives characteristic chalky mineral notes, which are added to notes of spices such as cinnamon, black pepper and firewood on the finish. To the palate it's sweet and mineral, the sip is very soft, a traditional spirit but also very easy to drink and approachable

MEZCAL 'SAN LUIS' DERRUMBES DESCRIPTION

The Derrumbes Mezcal 'San Luis' Potosí is a label produced by this interesting Mexican distillery, which for more than ten years has been committed to the enhancement of artisanal Mezcal production from different regions of the country. In this case, the territory of Mexico's central highlands and its typical indigenous agave varieties provide a distillate with a refined profile, characterised by delicate floral nuances and fresh herbaceous notes, well balanced by a pleasant sensation of fruity sweetness. A unique taste experience that allows you to get to know and appreciate a particular nuance of the famous distillate.

The 'San Luis' Mezcal Derrumbes is a true speciality. An exception in the often standardised panorama of Mexican industrial Mezcal production. The project was created precisely to make known the different faces that the distillate takes on according to the various areas of origin in the country. Each label is the fruit of the traditions of a small community of local producers and allows for an authentic appreciation of the unique character of the area of origin. In this case, it is a Mezcal from the arid desert area of San Luis Potosí. It is made exclusively from the Salmiana Crassispina agave variety, which grows wild in the highlands of the central regions. The processing is entrusted to maestro Manuel Pérez, who uses dried agave as fuel for cooking the heart of the plant in classic brick ovens, before fermentation and subsequent distillation. The Mezcal matures for a couple of months in the bottle before being put on sale.

Mezcal "San Luis" Derrumbes has a luminous, transparent colour that anticipates its crystal-clear purity. The bouquet is characterised by subtle aromas of notable expressive finesse, reminiscent of the fragrance of white flowers, the vegetal and herbaceous notes typical of freshly cut agave, enriched by softer, persuasive notes of white-fleshed fruit and hints of smoke and spice. On the palate, it is warm and enveloping, with a flowing mouthfeel and crisp, delicate aromas that stretch towards a fresh finish with good taste persistence. It is perfect to be enjoyed neat or on the rocks.
