MONTEFALCO ROSSO RISERVA ADANTI 2017 DESCRIPTION

Adanti’s Montefalco Rosso Riserva is an intense and structured wine, mainly produced with Sangiovese to which is added a percentage of Sagrantino and Merlot. The long aging in wood makes it complex and evolved, aromatic and persistent, with a good aging potential. The nose reveals ripe and rich aromas, with notes of red fruit, jam, tobacco and balsamic hints. Structured and dense, it stretches on the palate with fullness of aromas and beautiful tertiary notes, which accompany towards a long and harmonious finish.

Montefalco Rosso Riserva wine is produced in the estate of Adanti Winery, which manages about thirty hectares divided into various plots cultivated in the hilly areas near Arquata and Colcimino. It is an important label, which comes from a careful selection of the best Sangiovese grapes, with a small part of Merlot, which gives richness and fruity roundness and Sagrantino, which brings structure and tannins. The vineyards are cultivated in the territory of the municipality of Bevagna with south-east exposure, at an altitude of 230 meters above sea level. The cool and continental climate and the soils of mainly clay matrix, with sandy components, have proved perfect for red berried varieties. The manual harvests follow the ripening periods of the various grapes, which are vinified separately. At the end of the destemming-crushing process, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28 ºC, with maceration on the skins for 21-28 days, accompanied by daily pumping over and délestage. It ages for at least 30 months in Slavonian oak barrels before bottling and ends with a year in the cellar before being put on sale.

Adanti’s Montefalco Rosso Riserva is an important wine, dense in aromas, which well expresses the complexity and aromatic richness of Sangiovese, Merlot and Sagrantino. In the glass is presented a garnet red color with intense tones. The nose reveals aromas of ripe red fruit, wild fruit jam, tobacco notes, wild herbs and balsamic flavors. On the palate it has a good structure, with ample, rich and persistent aromas, which already veer towards a decisive tertiary evolution. The tannic texture is well integrated into the body of the wine and the finish is of great balance and very persistent.
