Montevetrano is a red wine full-bodied and structured Campanian, made from international grapes with a small addition of Aglianico, aged for 14 months in new barriques. The intense and articulate aromatic spectrum evokes wild berries, wild herbs and humus. The sip is soft, warm and velvety, with a long finish

Montevetrano constitutes an iconic Campanian label that has established itself on the southern Italian wine scene thanks to its extraordinary ability to interpret the French style with class while remaining firmly anchored in its territory of origin. We are in San Cipriano Picentino, just a few kilometres northeast of Salerno, where in 1991, Silvia Imparato launched her own wine and winery with the intention of proposing a thick red, supported by the expert advice of oenologist Riccardo Cotarella. The name Montevetrano comes from the castle of the same name where the estate is located.
Montevetrano red wine from Campania consists of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60 percent), Aglianico (30 percent) and Merlot (10 percent), varieties grown in the hills on medium-textured clay soils rich in the skeleton. In the winery, the grapes are mellowed in stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation associated with about 20 days of contact between the must and skins. In addition, 15 percent of the macerating must is taken at this stage according to the "salasso" technique so as to concentrate the wealth of substances contained in the skins. Once the fermentation process is concluded, the mass is racked into barriques of Nevers, Allier and Tronçais oak, where it matures for a year before further resting for several months in the bottle.
In the goblet, Silvia Imparato's Montevetrano exhibits a deep and intense ruby-red coat. Vivid and elegant olfactory picture, painted by scents of small black fruits, lavender, sage, rosemary, liquorice, tobacco and sweet spices, with earthy notes and fine woods as a frame. The palate is soft and structured, warm and intense, with a velvety tannic texture that contributes to the overall balance. This great Campanian red has proven its exceptional longevity, being able to safely evolve in the cellar for up to 20 years.
