NEBBIOLO 'LA VILA' LUCA LEGGERO 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Canavese Nebbiolo 'La Vila' by Piedmontese producer Luca Leggero represents anoriginal expression of Nebbiolo, matured between terracotta amphorae and Austrian oak barrels. Lying between the city of Turin and the Alpine foothills that separate Piedmont from Valle d'Aosta, the Canavese territory can boast a very ancient wine-growing tradition, dating back even before Roman times. Over the centuries, the morphological heterogeneity of the area, rich in morainic hills and lakes, has been reflected in a notable oenological variability, giving rise to a production of sparkling, white, red and sweet wines of absolute value.

'La Vila' Luca Leggero Nebbiolo Canavese is a 100% Nebbiolo from organically certified vines grown on morainic soils characterised by a high presence of sand and gravel, as well as a particular richness of skeleton. Following the harvest, the grapes are transferred to the cellar, where they are mellowed in stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation in contact with the skins at a controlled temperature. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is matured for 10 months in 25 and 50 hectolitre Austrian oak casks and in 16 and 7.5 hectolitre terracotta amphorae. This is followed by an ageing period of at least 5 months in the bottle before final release.

In the glass, Luca Leggero's Nebbiolo del Canavese 'La Vila' shows a soft, luminous ruby red colour. The aromatic bouquet expresses intense floral hints and captivating scents of red fruits such as cherries, all enhanced by hints of liquorice and nuances of sweet spices reminiscent of vanilla. In the mouth it is ample, rich and very fresh, with well-present but velvety tannins accompanying the tasty persistence on the finish.
