The Pauillac 5eme Cru Classé of Château Lynch-Bages is a prestigious red wine, born in one of the most famous appellations of the Médoc, which has always been renowned for the elegance and extraordinary longevity of its wines, based above all on Cabernet Sauvignon. The first traces of the domaine date back to the 16th century, but its history officially began in the 18th century, when Thomas Lynch, of Irish origin, settled in Bordeaux to trade in wines. Thus was born the first nucleus of the future Château. The level of the wines produced is so high that when Bordeaux wines were classified in 1855, it was awarded the title of 5eme Cru Classé. Today, the Cazes family manages the estate impeccably in the name of great tradition. The wines have maintained their quality over time and are still today among the best interpretations of the Pauillac area.
The red Pauillac 5eme Cru Classé was born on the banks of the Gironde estuary. The Château Lynch-Bages estate covers an area of approximately 100 hectares, in one of the most prestigious areas of the entire Médoc. In the countryside, the principles of sustainable agriculture are followed, with grassed inter-rows and an environmentally friendly use of treatments. The soils are of ancient alluvial origin, with a high percentage of gravel transported by the Garonne. The climate is mild temperate, thanks to the presence of the estuary and the nearby Atlantic Ocean. The vines are between 30 and 60 years old and are trained with high planting density and low yields. The wine is made from a classic blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, supplemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. After vinification, which is carried out separately for the various grape varieties, the wine is matured for 18 months in 75% new French oak barrels.
5eme Cru Classé Château by Lynch-Bages is a Pauillac that perfectly expresses the charm of the great wines of this magnificent Médoc terroir. The style is marked by the typical characteristics of the appellation, which can be summed up as finesse, elegance and structure. Rather austere in its youth, it opens up to an unforgettable taste experience after a few years of bottle ageing. To the eye it is an intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The bouquet is characterised by aromas of blackcurrants, cherries, blueberries, hints of underbrush and soft spices. The sip is rich and deep, with a dense tannic texture that envelops ample fruit and subtle notes of tertiary evolution. Long and very persistent, it offers a pleasantly fresh finish.
