Château Lynch-Bages is a historic domaine in Bordeaux, located near Pauillac. Although the existence of the property is attested in archives since the 16th century, the history of the estate officially begins in the mid-1700s and is linked to the name of Thomas Lynch. During this period, he began cultivating the land and producing a wine, known as "Cru de Lynch," prized as one of the best in the area, so much so that it became part of the prestigious 1855 Classification made at the Universal Exhibition in Paris. In the 1930s, management of the estate was entrusted to Jean-Charles Cazes, who already controlled Château Ormes de Pez à Saint-Estèphe. On the eve of World War II, Cazes bought the two estates, creating the Lynch-Bages domaine.

Today the Lynch-Bages estate covers an area of 100 hectares in the commune of Pauillac, on the banks of the Gironde estuary, in the heart of the Médoc region. The climate is temperate, mitigated by the presence of the river and the proximity of the ocean, and the soils are very draining, consisting of soils rich in pebbles and gravels of alluvial origin. In these particular soil and climate conditions, Cabernet Sauvignon has found its ideal habitat, but there is no shortage of plots of Petit Verdot, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The vines have an average age of 30 years, with some old plots exceeding 60, and produce grapes of extraordinary richness and aromatic concentration. The Pauillac Appellation includes as many as three of the four Grands Crus Classés of the Médoc and has always been known for its wines characterized by intensity, elegance and longevity.

The extraordinary vineyard park, constitutes a priceless heritage and the true treasure of Château Lynch-Bages. Each grape variety is grown in the most suitable zone, and agronomic management is based on the qualitative principles of high planting density and low yields per plant, so as to bring ripe grapes with concentrated aromas to harvest. Over the past decades, many zoning studies have been carried out, leading to in-depth knowledge of the specific characteristics of the various plots and also the genetic heritage of the plants, then used to make new vines from mass selection and perpetuate the original character of the vines. Fermentations and aging are carried out following the oldest traditions of the area, to preserve its authentic character.
