Petit Chablis Vincent Wengier 2022

Vincent Wengier's Petit Chablis originates in northern Burgundy from 30-year-old vines on hilly terrain. A long steel fermentation and malolactic conversion give intensity and a golden colour to the wine, which reveals rich aromas of citrus fruits, white-fleshed fruit and slight hints of butter on the nose. On the palate it is ample and fresh, with good body. Try it with seafood

PETIT CHABLIS VINCENT WENGIER 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Petit Chablis from Vincent Wengier is a white wine with a dynamic and flowing drinkability, an excellent introduction to the terroir of Chablis. The Petit Chablis appellation, literally "little Chablis", was introduced in 1944 to cover a number of parcels that do not belong to the Chablis AOC but are adjacent to it. In general, the Petit Chablis vineyards are located on the plateaus above the slopes where the Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru and Chablis Grand Cru parcels are located. Today, the total number of hectares dedicated to Petit Chablis is almost 1,300, with these wines accounting for around 20% of the terroir's total production.

The Vincent Wengier Petit Chablis comes from pure Chardonnay grapes grown according to the principles of organic farming and certified from the 2023 harvest. The soils of Kimmeridge are characterised by a high proportion of clay, limestone and fossilised marine residues. The vines have an average age of 30 years and are harvested using state-of-the-art harvesting machinery. The must obtained by gently pressing the grapes is decanted before alcoholic fermentation, which takes place slowly and gradually in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation and maturation also take place in stainless steel tanks, where the wine spends several months on the fine lees.

The Petit Chablis from Domaine Vincent Wengier has a brilliant golden yellow colour. Inviting notes of pear, quince and delicate mineral hints of iodine characterise the aromatic bouquet. It is very fresh and quite broad on the palate, with an exceptionally soft, dynamic finish.
