ROERO ROSSO RISERVA 'LA VAL DEI PRETI' MATTEO CORREGGIA 2020 DESCRIPTION

The Roero Rosso Riserva "La Val dei Preti" is a fine, successful and pleasant Piedmontese wine, already ready to enjoy today, but which, with a few more years on its shoulders, will become even more valuable, developing its personality even further. Nebbiolo, a fundamental grape variety for regional oenology, finds in the terroir roerino one of its cradles of choice and succeeds in expressing itself with an important sip, thanks in part to the work done by the team at the Matteo Correggia winery, a production reality that first turned the spotlight of enthusiasts and critics on Roero.

Roero Rosso "La Val dei Preti" Riserva is made from the pure grapes of Piedmont's quintessential red grape variety, Nebbiolo. A variety that the Matteo Correggia winery cultivates in vineyards located about 280 meters above sea level, facing south, on soils distinguished by sandy and silty subsoils. After the grapes are harvested, they macerate for a period of 6-8 days, fermenting in barriques. Also, in barrique, ageing then takes place, which lasts 18 months; at the end of this period, the wine is transferred back to steel, where it stabilizes and is then bottled.

Roero Riserva wine "La Val dei Preti" presents itself in the glass with a hue that recalls the colour of ruby, with iridescent reflections toward the garnet in the rim. The olfactory spectrum is centred on red fruit notes, enhanced by more balsamic and spicy hints in the finish. On the palate, it is full-bodied, warm and balanced, with a refined, expressive and incisive sip. A bottle with which the Matteo Correggia winery perfectly delineates the style of the Roero terroir, earning it several important awards given by the leading Italian wine guides.
