The Salina Rosso from the Hauner winery is a bottle with a typically territorial face, crafted with care and artisanal passion by one of the leading names on the small island in the Sicilian archipelago. In a terroir with unique microclimatic conditions, two historic native grape varieties such as Nero d'Avola and Nerello Mascalese, have found the optimal conditions to exalt their most refined and elegant character, savoury and mineral. This is a red wine of great charm, captivating for its intensity and finesse, confirming the absolute value of Salina wines.
Rosso di Salina is the generous fruit of the work of one of the pioneers of Aeolian wine. Carlo Hauner has been able to interpret and make the most of the Salina area with a range of labels made from the typical grape varieties of the small Sicilian archipelago. The hot, dry climate, mitigated by sea breezes and soils of the ancient volcanic zone, creates an ideal habitat for vine cultivation. The Nero d'Avola and Nerello Mascalese vines are located on volcanic soils composed of sand, pumice and lava rocks particularly rich in minerals. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, with classic maceration on the skins. The wine matures for 12 months in steel tanks and completes ageing with at least 3 months in the bottle.
Salina Rosso wine, signed by the Hauner winery, is a label with a marine and Mediterranean profile, well representing the particular and wonderful place of production. To the eye, it is bright ruby red in colour, with light violet youthful highlights. Intense and fruity, it expresses the aromas of small dark berry fruits, currants, blackberries, hints of spice, liquorice root, carob, delicate floral nuances and aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean scrub. It is a medium-bodied red with an elegant tannic texture, enveloping, harmonious aromas and good flavour persistence. The finish is marked by a sharp sapid vein, which flows into a sensation of pleasant freshness. All the charm of the Aeolian Islands is enclosed in a goblet of red.
