PALHETE ROSÉ 'SAROTO' ARRIBAS WINE COMPANY 2023 DESCRIPTION

The 'Saroto' Palhete Rosé from the Portuguese Arribas Wine Company is a dynamic and flavourful expression of the Trás-os-Montes terroir, the result of a traditional blend of red and white grapes. This area is rich in traditional grape varieties, which form a complex and heterogeneous varietal platform. Aware of this, Arribas Wine Company intends to enhance the local tradition, an objective pursued through a sustainable agronomic approach and minimalist oenology.

The Rosé Palhete Arribas Wine Company 'Saroto' consists of a blend of red and white grapes, including Bastardo, Alfrocheiro, Verdelho and Malvasia. These vines are from vines over 50 years old, sustainably cultivated on soils consisting of decomposed granite, quartz and clay, located at an altitude of 650-700 metres above sea level. Following manual harvesting, the grapes are placed in lagars, traditional concrete tanks, for the spontaneous start of alcoholic fermentation accompanied by 36 hours of skin maceration. This is followed by pressing and then racking into used Austrian oak barrels, containers where the fermentation process is completed, with malolactic fermentation also taking place. Also in oak, the 7-month maturation phase on fine lees takes place, and throughout the entire process clarification or filtration is excluded.

The Palhete Rosé 'Saroto' from Arribas Wine Company is a lively cherry pink colour. The aromatic bouquet expresses crisp sensations of raspberries and cherries that blend with citrusy hints of grapefruit and saline touches on the finish. On the palate, it is fresh and sorbet, round and with great flavour on the finish, marked by pleasant returns of red fruits.
