SAUVIGNON 'VULCAIA FUMÉ' INAMA 2021 DESCRIPTION

Sauvignon "Vulcaia Fumé" is a historical label of the Inama winery, representing its tradition and desire to experiment. It was born, in fact, from the desire to enhance and raise awareness of the Soave area through a version of Sauvignon Blanc with an international profile, also dedicated to foreign markets. The choice of vinification in wood gives the wine a remarkable aromatic complexity and a good structure, with notes of tropical fruit, intense and rich toasted and smoky hints, recalling the use of barrique and the character of the volcanic soils of the place of origin. Precisely because of its strong personality, it is a wine to be enjoyed in combination with savoury fish dishes or white meats.

"Vulcaia Fumé" is a Sauvignon that comes from one of the most interesting estates in the Veneto region. Inama is a winery with a family character, running two estates, one near Soave for the production of white wines and one in the Berici Hills area, dedicated to red grapes, particularly Carménère. Sauvignon Blanc grapes come from the estate's Monte Foscarino vineyards, which are about 15 years old and are cultivated at an altitude of 150 meters above sea level, with sunny south- and southwest-facing exposure. The soils of a very ancient volcanic matrix formed by basalts and the cool, breezy climate proved particularly suitable for this French grape variety with a semi-aromatic profile. At the end of the harvest, the grapes are subjected to cryomaceration for a few hours, then destemmed and gently pressed. After static decantation, the must ferments in high-toast French oak barriques (30% new, 50% second-passage and 20% third-passage). The wine ages in barriques for six months with periodic bâtonnage, is then blended in steel tanks and then bottled.

Inama's white Sauvignon "Vulcaia Fumé" is the meeting point between the terroir of Soave and the French tradition, represented by one of its noblest grape varieties and the savoir-faire of vinification in wood. It has an intense yellow colour to the eye with luminous golden reflections. The bouquet is particularly intense and rich, with aromas of ripe yellow fruit, citrus peel, hints of tropical fruit, floral nuances, vanilla, soft spices, smoky and roasted notes. The palate has a good structure, with a creamy, enveloping, complex and broad sip that stretches toward a balanced and very persistent finish.
