'SER BALDUZIO' FIORANO 2018 DESCRIPTION

Fiorano's "Ser Balduzio" is an intense and rich wine from the Marche region. Red grapes from the Ascoli Piceno area express themselves with particular elegance and finesse, thanks to suitable soils and a cool, mild climate. The long ageing in wood also gives it a pleasant aromatic complexity with interesting tertiary evolutions.

Cantina Fiorano's "Ser Balduzio" is produced on the winery's estate located in Contrada Fiorano, in the municipality of Cossignano in the province of Ascoli Piceno. The estate covers 16 hectares, managed under organic farming for more than 15 years. The vineyards are cultivated in a magnificent hilly area between the Sibillini Mountains and the Adriatic coast, and work in the cellar is conducted with the utmost respect for the integrity of the grapes to obtain wines of direct expression of terroir, still produced according to traditional artisanal customs. The vineyards are about 20 years old and are cultivated on clay soils at 260 meters, with southeastern exposure. After the harvest is complete, the grapes are destemmed and softly pressed. This is followed by fermentation, which takes place in steel using only indigenous yeasts and with maceration on the skins for about 30-35 days. The wine matures in large Slavonian oak barrels for at least 30 months and completes ageing within 24 months in a bottle.

Fiorano's "Ser Balduzio" red is a wine with a frank and direct face, a faithful expression of the terroir. It has an intense ruby red colour on the nose and releases rich aromas of ripe black cherries, red fruit, underbrush, herbs, and toasted and balsamic nuances. The palate has a good structure, with a very expressive and ample centre of the mouth and dense and evolved tannins. The finish is harmonious and balanced, with a nice persistence and length.
