"Achillea" is a Tuscan Vermentino of great freshness and flavor, vinified and aged only in steel. It develops a clear and light profile, highly drinkable and pleasant, wrapped in a bouquert of yellow flowers, citrus fruits, peach, Mediterranean herbs and memories of the sea. Excellent as an aperitif or on fish menu!
I Veroni's Vermentino "Achillea" was born in Tuscany, specifically in Pontassieve in the province of Florence in the heart of Rùfina, a sub-zone of Chianti famous for producing excellent quality wines. The history of viticulture at the Fattoria dates back to the 1500s when the noble Gatteschi family built the first tanks for fermenting musts, which can still be seen today; the historic building also hosted the baptism of Bartolomeo d'Angiolo Gatteschi, later personal physician to Cosimo I Medici. In the early 1900s, Carlo Maleschi bought the estate and handed down the art of winemaking from generation to generation until today: his grandson Lorenzo Mariani is now the owner of the winery and implements renewal projects, projecting the winery's work into the future.
I Veroni's pure Vermentino "Achillea" grapes come from vineyards occupying 20 hectares of the 70 owned by the winery: in addition to vines, olive trees are also grown, totalling about 4,000 plants. The soils are located at about 300 meters above sea level, also rediscovering ancient vines that had been forgotten until then. The cultivation regime is entirely organic, respecting the ecosystem surrounding the vineyard and the development and ripening phases of the grapes. Harvesting is by hand, and in the cellar, the grapes are subjected to soft pressing; this is followed by alcoholic fermentation in steel and also matures in steel for 5 months. Finally, it is aged in a bottle for 3 months.
The colour of Vermentino "Achillea" from I Veroni appears a soft yellow with clear, bright greenish reflections. The aromas are reminiscent of hints of fresh grass, citrus, yellow flowers and aromatic herbs; in the mouth, the structure is balanced and enveloping, with good freshness and savoriness that entice drinking. Excellent paired with shellfish and crustacean pasta dishes, fried seafood and fresh cheeses. A product to be consumed at carefree aperitifs by the sea in the summer at sunset with friends or cheerful family evenings, enjoying in the glass a product that has all the flavours of authentic Tuscany.
