Vermentino di Gallura 'Karagnanj' Tondini 2023

The Vermentino di Gallura "Karagnanj" by Tondini is a white wine of medium intensity and structure. With a bright straw-yellow color, the nose is captivating, Mediterranean, with bouquet of ripe yellow fruit, citrus and white flowers. At the mouth it appears smooth, but then it shows all the granite and salt character, combined with a good freshness. Final with floral and fruity notes

VERMENTINO DI GALLURA 'KARAGNANJ' TONDINI 2023 DESCRIPTION

The family-run Tondini winery presents the Vermentino di Gallura Superiore ‘Karagnanj,’ a typical interpretation of the denomination that originates in Calangianus, in the northern part of Sardinia. Founded in 2004, the estate is managed by the Tondini family, who focus primarily on Vermentino, the emblematic variety of Gallura. The name ‘Karagnanj’ comes from the local dialect name of the town of Calangianus, chosen to emphasize the connection between this wine and its land.

The ‘Karagnanj’ Vermentino di Gallura Superiore Tondini is a pure expression of Vermentino from vines cultivated on sandy soils derived from granite decomposition, at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level. Following the hand harvest in late September, the grapes are immediately transferred to the winery and subjected to pre-fermentation maceration directly in the press. The must obtained from the soft pressing of the grapes undergoes alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, the same containers used for the maturation phase of several months.

The Vermentino di Gallura Superiore ‘Karagnanj’ from the Tondini winery is a bright straw yellow color. The enveloping olfactory texture is characterized by sensations of ripe yellow-fleshed fruit, citrus, white flowers, and Mediterranean scrub, complemented by mineral notes of iodine. The soft entry on the palate is soon tempered by good freshness and, above all, by the saline and granite signature, with a persistent finish that echoes the fruity and floral perceptions detected on the nose. A fine Vermentino di Gallura to be enjoyed not excessively cold, paired with fish and shellfish dishes.

Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
