VERMENTINO COLLI DI LUNI 'PIANACCE' GIACOMELLI 2023 DESCRIPTION

The Vermentino Colli di Luni "Pianacce" from the Giacomelli winery is an every day, extremely enjoyable, and transversal white endowed with irresistible drinkability. The Giacomelli winery was born out of a family handover, both in terms of what actually goes into the winery's production and in terms of the passion handed down by Pietro Giacomelli, Roberto's grandfather, now at the helm of operations. Today Roberto has the good fortune of being able to work with a vineyard planted in 1913, which, although it requires more effort and sensitivity than usual, repays with the fruit of sublime quality, and that is why the approach has always been to adopt minimally invasive agriculture, where treatments were reduced to a minimum and applied only when strictly necessary. The liquids speak of crisp stylistic expressions of great cleanness yet carry a deep territorial input. Sea and salt.

The white "Pianacce" is made from pure Vermentino grapes from vineyards located on the hills of Castelnuovo Magra, which rest on soils rich in clay. In the vineyard, as already mentioned, we work as respectfully as possible to the environment and its natural balance, and in the cellar, we proceed with alcoholic fermentation in steel with maceration on the skins for 24 hours. The liquid ages for 6 months on fine lees, always in steel, before bottling.

The wine "Pianacce" reveals itself in the glass with an intense and bright straw-coloured robe. Nose fresh and territorial, quite varied and declined on hints of golden apple, mint, citrus peel and brackish reflexes. The sharp definition of the olfactory profile is matched by a slender sip with a nice saline lengthening, enlivened by a constant dialectic between aromatic part and freshness. Exemplary interpretation.
