Devoted exclusively to Pinot Noir, the Burgundian AOC of Vosne-Romanée is located in the Côte de Nuits, between the villages of Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vouget. In particular, the climat Premier Cru of 'Les Rouges du Dessus' is located on the hill overlooking Vosne-Romanée, in the northwestern part of the appellation. To understand the quality of this small portion of the Cote d'Or, suffice it to say that in the commune of Vosne-Romanée, just a short distance from the rows of 'Les Rouges du Dessus' are the very famous and prestigious vineyards of the Romanée-Conti winery.
Premier Cru 'Les Rouges du Dessus' Domaine Roblot-Marchand Vosne-Romanée is a pure Pinot Noir from vines grown at an altitude of more than 300 meters above sea level on soils consisting of clay marl and limestone. Following the harvest, the grapes are vinified in the traditional manner through alcoholic fermentation in contact with the skins for 12 days in concrete tanks. The ensuing maturation period lasts for 16 months and takes place in small French oak barrels, with 30% new wood.
