Dalwhinnie comes from the Gaelic and means "meeting point" of shepherds of sheep and cattle. It is a place so remote that in 1994 it was officially registered as coldest inhabited place in Scotland for that year. No other distillery may use water resulting from Lochan an Doire Uaine (from Gaelic, meaning "Lake Grove Green") which is 600 meters high on Drumochter Hills; no one else could combine them so unique taste clean, affordable and sweetly malty Dalwhinnie and heat soft, smoky and warm Highland. The distillery is located in the green expanses of the Lowlands and the rugged and austere Speuside that begins about 40 km further north. The style is typical of Highland: a combination of sweetness and decisive force. Where possible, keeps old traditions such as the classic wood that is still used for tubs or the two copper stills that send alcohol into the pipes leaching into the distiller. In addition to being a fine distillery, Dalwhinnie also has the distinction of being one official weather station, with one of the lower average temperatures in Britain. Whiskey 15 years has a beautiful golden color and the nose is intense, fragrant, dry and aromatic, with notes of heather and peat. The body is slender and allows to be easy to approach. Soft and delicate, with persistent notes still heather, honey and vanilla followed by more intense sensations of citrus and malt bread, so flows into the mouth. Long finish, surprising intensity, which begins gently to make room for feelings smoked torbate and malty.
