Aaldering

Aaldering Vineyards & Wines is a small South African winery in the famous Stellenbosch region, established in 2004 and run by Dutch couple Marianne and Fons Aaldering. Although the winery is only 45 km from the city centre of Cape Town, it is nestled in a natural ecosystem of great beauty, rich in peace and tranquillity.

The vineyards of the Aaldering Estate cover 21 hectares in the Western Cape province, in a natural environment with great biodiversity. The vineyards are populated by small game and overflown by eagles. Marianne and Fons aim to keep this natural heritage intact by using an original combination of organic and biodynamic farming and modern, sophisticated production techniques. Because of its sustainable approach, the winery has been awarded the IPW (Integrated Production of Wine producers), making it one of South Africa's most virtuous producers. The soils are rich in granite and iron oxide, with a dark red colour, particularly suited to the production of grapes with an intense and elegant aromatic profile. Pinotage, Shiraz, Carbenet Sauvignon and Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon are grown here. In the wine cellar, the production process is carried out with great rigour and precision. The ageing is very often done in French oak barrels and can last up to 24 months for the most important red wines.

Aaldering wines are generally rich and intense, expressing the grape variety's characteristics clearly and precisely. Softness, balance and intensity are always present, combined with pleasant nuances of vanilla and exotic fruits. All labels offered reflect the excellence of South Africa's most famous and prestigious wine-growing region, Stellebosch.
