Since 1968, Oliviero Toscani has been the owner of a beautiful estate in the metalliferous hills of Casale Marittimo, a few kilometres from the beautiful town of Bolgheri. He has lived in this magical and isolated place since 1980 with his wife and son Rocco, surrounded by 160 hectares of woods, vineyards, olive groves and arable land. Here, with the help of 30 employees, he raises Cinta Senese pigs, horses, carrier pigeons and, above all, cultivates vines and produces wine. The production is mainly based on the Syrah grape and has distinguished itself in recent years for intense, fresh and dynamic red wines with soft and velvety tannins.
The Azienda Agricola Toscani boasts a beautiful amphitheatre-shaped vineyard of about 12 hectares, with a splendid view of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The soils are rich in iron and minerals, and are situated between 220 and 320 metres above sea level. In addition to Syrah, other international varieties such as Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are cultivated, as well as a small percentage of Teroldego. This beautiful natural setting, with more than 20,000 cypresses, oaks, maritime pines and olive trees, is ideal for the cultivation of vines and, in fact, produces excellent grapes that are transformed into wines of great depth and international style. These are mainly blended wines, aged in French oak barrels and then in the bottle. They are the result of a long-standing project that began in collaboration with Angelo Gaja and continues today, under the guidance of his son Rocco Toscani, with the important enologists Attilio Pagli and Valentino Ciarla.
Toscani's wines are now successfully exported all over the world, also thanks to their artistic labels and innovative packaging. The O.T. logo in Technicolor stands out on the labels, and has become a guarantee of excellence, innovation and artistic sense. Just like the other products, the red wines produced reflect the eclectic and original personality of the famous photographer and stand out, within the vast Tuscan wine scene, for their versatile and modern elegance.
"Un grande vino e una grande immagine sono due risultati creativi, con un elemento in comune, fondamentale: la luce."
