Casale Certosa is a winemaking establishment located near Rome that operates with a sustainable approach aimed at finding the ideal marriage between traditional practices and modern techniques in the industry. The roots of the farm date back to the 1960s, when the Cosmi family decided to dedicate themselves to farming out of necessity, creating this farm just south of the city of Rome, near Castel Gandolfo, a splendid place in the Castelli Romani area. Around the year 2000, the brothers Antonio and Fausto Cosmi took over the management of the estate from their father. Casale Certosa is also a member of FIVI, the Italian Federation of Independent Winemakers, an association founded to promote the independent work of winemakers across Italy.

Casale Certosa cultivates 13 hectares of vineyards, alongside an olive grove, a small orchard, a vegetable garden, and a field for growing crops to meet the needs of family and friends. In 2004, the estate obtained organic certification, and in the vineyard, they use a series of practices such as the exclusive use of copper and sulfur for pathogen defense, the adoption of techniques like green manure, and the use of decoctions from various wild herbs. Since 2011, the family has embarked on a journey towards biodynamic agriculture. The vineyards, planted on volcanic soil, are dedicated to a combination of traditional and international grape varieties, including Malvasia Puntinata, Grechetto, Trebbiano, Malvasia di Candia, Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Harvesting is done entirely by hand, while the winemaking approach aims to minimize any invasive intervention, with spontaneous fermentations and aging primarily taking place in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks, often excluding the use of wood to preserve the character of the grape variety and the terroir.

The wines from Casale Certosa, both white and red, are characterized by their genuine simplicity, further enhanced by a refined mineral note that reflects the volcanic nature of the soils where the vines grow.
