Along the 45th parallel, considered one of the most vocated oenological latitudes as it is halfway between the North Pole and the equator, operates Chateau Le Peuy Saincrit, a wine reality of Bordeaux focused on high quality production and environmental sustainability. The Chateau, which has been run by the Surain family for three generations, is located just outside the town of Saint-André-de-Cubzac, along the right bank of the Dordogne river, in the Libournais area. In particular, the winery falls within the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation, an AOC that is intended to emphasise a 'superior' level of quality compared to the generic Bordeaux appellation, a higher quality resulting in part from the higher density of plants per hectare in the vineyards and lower grape yields.

The vineyards owned by Chateau Le Peuy Saincrit are spread over 14 hectares on the hilly slope of Montalot, the highest in the region, a factor that favours significant temperature variations between day and night. In addition, the hilly position and excellent southern exposure make it possible to optimise solar radiation, with consequent benefits for the ripening of the grapes. The vines, most of which are very old, rest on rocky soils characterised by a thin layer of clay and limestone. On these environmental parameters, adopting an agronomic approach that respects the environment, the estate raises the traditional Bordeaux varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and, above all, Merlot, the main grape variety of the right bank of the Bordeaux region. The oenological process is traditional, based on alcoholic fermentation in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks, preceded by a pre-fermentation cold maceration of no less than 10 days, and subsequent ageing in French oak barrels.

The reds of Chateau Le Peuy Saincrit stand out for their distinct aromas of berries and spices, traits that are peculiar to Bordeaux Supérieur. These wines are ideal to start approaching the prestigious Bordeaux wine world without spending a fortune, but with the guarantee of purchasing labels of absolute pleasure.
