Fattoria La Màgia is a beautiful reality in the territory of Montalcino, the historical cradle of Sangiovese and precious oenological pearl of Tuscany. The famous hill in the province of Siena is known worldwide for a production of red wines of extraordinary quality, which are born within a natural context of great scenic beauty. The name of the estate most likely comes from the term Magione. In this place, there was an ancient post station that served as a reference point for wayfarers and pilgrims. The location is not far from the monastery of Sant'Antimo, which lies just below the estate area.
The Schwarz family fell in love with the unspoiled nature of these places and about forty years ago decided to make a radical change in life and move to this magnificent corner of Tuscany. In 2011 Harald Schwarz passed the helm of the company to the new generation, represented by his son Fabian. After completing his studies at the Agricultural Institute of San Michele all'Adige, Fabian began to take charge of all aspects of the estate, from agronomy to enology, thus following the entire production process, from the vineyard to the marketing of the bottles. The property covers 15 hectares and is located at an altitude of 400-450 meters above sea level, with a sunny southeast-facing exposure. The soils are poor and stony, with the presence of silt and clay in the deeper layers, which retain valuable water reserves to cope with periods of drought.
The estate is conducted according to organic farming principles, in harmony with an unspoiled environmental setting. All chemicals have been banned, and only sulfur and copper are used for treatments. The principles of sustainability are also applied to the winery. Since 1979 it has been equipped with solar panels, and since 2008 all the energy used in the winery comes only from a photovoltaic system. All winemaking processes are carried out in a very simple way using winemaking methods that are very respectful of the characteristics of excellent quality grapes. Thanks to these choices, wines with a straightforward profile are born, expressing the excellence of Sangiovese and the fine terroir of Montalcino.
