That of the Moschioni family is a winemaking reality proudly linked to its territory, that of Cividale del Friuli, an area interpreted by the Moschioni family through a purely red wine production, in contrast to the white vocation traditionally attributed to the area. The estate was born in the early 1900s in the Colli Orientali del Friuli area, specifically in Gagliano, a hamlet of Cividale del Friuli, a place where the Moschioni family has been present since the 16th century. In 1953 the Moschioni family purchased 13 hectares of land from the Curia in the hills surrounding Cividale del Friuli, which are particularly suited to quality wine production. For a long time the Moschioni family was dedicated to raising livestock and growing various species of vegetables, with wine-making playing a marginal role. However, in the 1980s, thanks to Michele Moschioni, the estate took an exclusively winemaking direction, boldly deciding to focus on red wines rather than the more famous white wines of the area. In running the winery, Michele is supported by his wife Sabrina and children Valentino and Alice, with whom he shares a passion and pride for their reality.

Within the 13 hectares of estate vineyards, the Moschioni family raises only black grape varieties, both native such as Schioppettino, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Pignolo and Tazzelenghe, and international such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The vineyards are managed by excluding the use of herbicides, using only organic fertilizers and minimizing the impact of treatments. After harvesting, carried out strictly by hand at a late stage, the grapes are transferred to the winery and vinified by spontaneous fermentation in wooden vats, without temperature control, accompanied by manual punching-down. The subsequent aging phase takes place in wooden barrels of various sizes and precedes final bottling.

The Moschioni winery's production is thus reserved exclusively for red wines, mostly from local grapes, structured and generous expressions of the Cividale del Friuli area.
