The Nomades travelling project was created with the intention of enhancing the expression of different wine territories by focusing exclusively on native varieties. In particular, the focus of the project, which is configured as a 'nomadic' reality, hence the name Nomades, are the areas of Irpinia, Campania, and Kithaironas, Greece. The former is a mountainous wine-growing area of volcanic origin, one of the most important in southern Italy, famous for the quality of both its white and red wines. Instead, Kithaironas is an area in the region of Viotia, Central Greece, located west of the city of Athens. Behind this project lies the enthusiasm and passion of Onofrio, a producer from Campania, and Georgia, a producer from Greece, who decided to promote their respective areas of origin jointly. In terms of communication, the two have focused on a modern logo, with the word 'Nomades' characterised by an 'O' raised from the base line, a symbol of evasion and breaking out of the mould.
The indigenous varieties processed by the Nomades project include Fiano and Falanghina for Campania, and Assyrtiko and Savatiano for the Greek area of Kithaironas. Clearly, the two territories on which Nomades focuses have their own distinctive peculiarities, starting with the altitudes of up to 550-600 metres above sea level in Irpinia, where the soils are rich in clay and sand of a volcanic nature. In addition, the Irpinian microclimate is characterised by significant temperature excursions between day and night, an ideal condition for the optimal accumulation of aromatic precursors in the grapes. Instead, the vines in the Kithaironas area are grown using the alberello system on soils rich in skeleton and clay, in the classic Mediterranean climate that characterises the region. The vines are then worked according to the principles of organic farming , while in the wine cellar, vinification and ageing take place mainly in stainless steel tanks, in order to enhance the freshness and varietal aromas of the wines. Some of the wines are then also processed in oak barrels, strictly in several stages.
Those of the Nomades brand are wines of great character endowed with a strong mineral stamp, regardless of whether it is the fresh expressions of Irpinia or the savouriness of the Greek white.
