With its glorious, centuries-old history, Pio Cesare winery boasts important records that make it one of the most celebrated and important wineries in Langhe. It was founded in Alba in 1881 by entrepreneur Cesare Pio, a great wine lover and pioneer of values such as those of quality and stylistic originality. By the early 1900s his brand was already known throughout Europe, becoming a reference of Piedmontese wine in the world. An icon of fame and prestige on the national and international market that has continued first under the leadership of Rosy Pio and her husband Giuseppe Boffa and, today, under that of their son Pio Boffa. It currently exports to more than 50 countries and is one of the most famous and important Italian wineries, known both by the general public as by enthusiasts.

The vineyard estate covers a total of 70 hectares among the hills of Barolo and Barbaresco and boasts particularly vocated plots, such as the Bricco di Treiso vineyard and Ornato in Serralunga d'Alba, along with many important crus. Each of these vineyards is included in the list of Additional Geographical Mentions in the Barolo and Barbaresco specifications. The winery, located in the historic center of Alba, is built on four floors below the level of the Tanaro River and, in addition to being the ideal environment for the production, aging and storage of wine, is also an important historical place. In fact, it was excavated and built in the 18th century and is bordered by the ancient Roman walls of Alba Pompeia. In this very evocative historical setting, wines are produced according to the classic and traditional practice of blending together the characteristics of the vineyards, rather than vinifying separately by cru. This is how it was done in the 19th century and this has remained the family's mode of production.

Loyalty to a classic style, consistency in quality and great care in the vineyard and cellar characterize all production. Pio Cesare wines are an important historical witnesses and an example of quality and prestige that still sets the standard today. They represent the history and tradition of the Langhe, as well as their future and their success in Italy and around the world.

Trasudano storia i muri di questa cantina ubicata nel cuore di Alba, dalle vestigia romane alle parti più recenti in cui trovano posto in prevalenza le botti grandi della tradizione
