Taittinger is one among the most famous and important maison of Champagne, whose brand was born in 1932 with the acquisition of the estate by Pierre Taittinger. Pierre, passionate about gastronomy and bubbly, became acquainted with the lands while serving the French army as a first cavalry officer during the Great War. He fell madly in love with the property and its wonderful vineyards, to the point that he decided to buy it and invest all of himself in the production of quality bubbles. The Taittinger Maison has been run by the third generation since 2006, headed by Pierre-Emmanuel and his sons Clovis and Vitalie, and is located near the city of Reims on the ruins of the 13th century Saint Nicase Abbey. The long tradition, the family's unwavering commitment, the glorious history of the past and the continuous pursuit of excellence have placed the Taittinger maison among the largest and most historic Champagne Houses, consecrating it as a reference point in the region through impeccable production that is appreciated worldwide.
One of the most authentic features of the house are the historic underground cellars, built from limestone caves from the Gallo-Roman era, where the wines rest for a long time on their lees. All vinification and maturation processes are supervised by the great chef de cave Loic Dupontil, who has been at the service of the Maison for some 30 years, and who expertly blends the best cuvées to produce the great bubbles. The grapes come from the estate's 288 hectares, divided into 34 crus, populated by vines of Pinot Noir (48%), Pinot Meunier (15%) and Chardonnay (37%), the latter variety being the distinctive symbol of the cuvées, to the point that it enters into the assembly of the much-appreciated Comtes de Champagne.
Taittinger Champagnes are symbols of class, prestige and luxury and embody the long family tradition with a modern accent, aimed at the purest expression of the terroir of origin. A line with limited editions, vintages and reserves, which rightfully enters the elite of the great Champagnes!
