Through an approach based on innovation, Tenuta Ulisse offers a selection of wines that reflect the tradition and characteristics of the Abruzzo region. The Tenuta is located in the municipality of Crecchio, in the province of Chieti, between the Maiella National Park and the Adriatic coast, environmental factors that positively influence the climate, making it very suitable for quality wine growing. The history of the winery began in 2006, the year in which the Ulisse family started this wine project aimed at reinterpreting the winemaking dimension of Abruzzo in a modern key. At the helm of the estate are brothers Antonio and Luigi Ulisse, a family duo strongly intent on investing in and enhancing the Abruzzo region through values such as planning and meticulousness, all with the support of cutting-edge technology.
Tenuta Ulisse's vineyard property is spread over several estates, all differentiated by soil and climatic factors. Within these, the Ulisse brothers cultivate traditional varieties such as Montepulciano, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, Pecorino, Cococciola and Passerina, combined with renowned international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Chardonnay. The broad varietal platform is then completed by other grapes such as Primitivo, Malvasia and Pinot Grigio. The grapes are harvested at their optimal stage of ripeness while in the cellar, parcellaric vinification is carried out in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks, in contact with the skins for the red grapes and with direct soft pressing for the white grapes. The subsequent maturation period always takes place in steel for the majority of the production, although French and American oak barrels are also used for the more complex and structured wines.
Tenuta UIisse's vast production, comprising numerous types and styles of wine, is divided into several lines, including the 'Ulysses Line', the 'Premium Line' and the '10 Vendemmie' selection. It is precisely this last range that contains some of the cellar's finest wines: two labels, a white and a red, obtained from the unique blend of no less than 10 different vintages.
