Valle dell'Acate

The Valle dell'Acate winery is one of the most famous and representative of the Ragusa area. It was founded at the end of the 19th century by the Jacono family, at a time when the area's wine was mainly exported to France as a way of blending northern wines with more intense, alcoholic and full-bodied reds. Since then, a lot of time has passed and Sicily has been able to follow a courageous journey towards excellence, which has led to a true renaissance. Ancient traditions have been handed down and reinterpreted in the light of the most modern agronomic and enological knowledge, producing great wines. Today Valle dell'Acate is a dynamic winery managed by Gaetana Jacono, who has been able to focus on quality without compromise, in order to offer wines that reflect the authentic face of the territory.

In keeping with the oldest traditions, Valle dell'Acate has focused on enhancing the area's historical grape varieties: Nero d'Avola, Frappato and other indigenous varieties such as Inzolia and Grillo, or international ones such as Chardonnay, Syrah and Petit Verdot. The winery is especially famous for the iconic wines of the area: Cerasuolo di Vittoria and Frappato. These are two reds of extraordinary finesse and elegance, very different from the clichés of powerful and concentrated wines, which are linked to an outdated and misleading idea of Sicily. The vineyards are located in a beautiful area of south-eastern Sicily, characterised by a hot and dry climate that is mitigated by the presence of sea breezes. The estate follows certified organic cultivation methods and the winery has been involved for years in zoning work, which has brought seven different soil types to light, allowing each vine variety to be grown in the most suitable place.

Thanks to a profound knowledge of the territory's characteristics, Valle dell'Acate is able to offer a range of wines with great personality, with some of the best versions of Frappato and Cerasuolo di Vittoria. Many bottles are the fruit of a single cru, capable of expressing a unique and distinctive character. The winery is committed to the redevelopment of the entire territory, with particular attention to the environmental ecosystem and biodiversity. Precise irrigation systems and the reduction of energy consumption in the cellar are part of this logic, improving sustainability by determining water and carbon footprints.
