Sorelle de Nicola's Barbaresco Riserva is an intense, full-bodied wine that is aged for 24 months in medium-sized Slavonian oak barrels before maturing further in the bottle. With hints of red fruits, hints of nuts, aromas of violets and scents of tobacco, this Barbaresco goes perfectly with red meat dishes, perhaps grilled, game and mature cheeses

BARBARESCO RISERVA SORELLE DE NICOLA 2014 DESCRIPTION

The Barbaresco Riserva ‘Vigna di Montesommo’ from Sorelle de Nicola – Feyles is a Nebbiolo that stands out for its broad and elegant character, expressing the essence of a single old vineyard. The foundation of the Langhe reality Sorelle de Nicola – Feyles dates back to 1964 when Maria Feyles and her son-in-law Antonio de Nicola purchased a vineyard in the prestigious municipality of Neive, the land of Barbaresco. This was precisely the ‘Vigna di Montesommo’, included in the Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva of Bordini and replanted by Maria and Antonio in 1970.

The ‘Vigna di Montesommo’ Barbaresco Riserva from Sorelle de Nicola – Feyles is produced solely from Nebbiolo grapes from a single vineyard over 50 years old, planted with the Lampia clone and boasting an excellent southwest exposure. Harvesting is done by hand in October and is followed by traditional red winemaking through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation for 30 days in stainless steel tanks, without temperature control, combined with prolonged maceration on the skins during which periodic pump-overs are performed. For the subsequent aging phase, Slavonian oak barrels of 30 and 50 hectoliters are used, where the wine rests for 24 months before bottling and further aging for at least 2 years in glass. No clarification or filtration operations are carried out throughout the production process.

The Barbaresco ‘Vigna di Montesommo’ Riserva from Feyles – Sorelle de Nicola is ruby red with garnet hues. Intense and expansive aromas of plum, berries, violet, mace, and tobacco fill the nose alongside balsamic and mineral nuances. On the palate, it is harmonious and structured, with an appetizing, elegant, and appropriately tannic progression resting on persistent sensations of red fruits and various spices.
