Merlot "Sito dell'Ulmo" from the famous Sicilian winery Planeta is a harmonious and elegant red, enveloping and Mediterranean. Although inspired by the famous Bordeaux models, it is a label that perfectly expresses the character of the territory of the Menfi estate. It is made from Merlot grapes and a small balance of Petit Verdot from a single vineyard. Thanks to long ageing in wood, it offers ripe and complex aromas that captivate and seduce with notes of red fruit, floral and herbal nuances. Intense and persistent, it is an ideal red to enjoy with roasts, grilled meats or mixed grills.

"Sito dell'Ulmo" is a Merlot produced by a winery that has been a key player in the renaissance of Sicilian wine. It is a label that originates in Sambuca di Sicilia, within the territory of the Planeta estate in Menfi. The property covers a total area of 400 hectares, about 250 of which are devoted to viticulture. The grapes come from the Ulmo vineyard, planted in 1987 on the shores of Lake Arancio. The vines are grown at an elevation of about 200 meters above sea level in a natural environment rich in forests and biodiversity. The area is characterized by alluvial soils, rich in pebbles, very draining and suited to the needs of Merlot. At the end of the harvest, the grapes are destemmed and fermented at a temperature of 28 °C, with maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks. The wine matures for 14 months in Allier barriques, 50% new, and completes ageing with a few months in the bottle before release.

Planeta's Merlot wine "Sito dell'Ulmo" is a label that offers a beautiful version of the grape variety originating in Bordeaux, made to create a rich and intense wine intended for long ageing. To the eye, it has a bright ruby red colour. Refined and elegant, delicate floral aromas, aromas of small dark berry fruits, blueberry, currant, red plum, nuances of aromatic herbs and slight hints of spice distinguish it. On the palate, it is harmonious and soft, with a velvety tannic texture, ripe, complex and persistent aromas, anticipating a savoury, long finish with outstanding flavour balance.
