ROERO ROSSO 'BRIC VALDIANA' GIOVANNI ALMONDO 2020 DESCRIPTION

Giovanni Almondo's Roero Rosso 'Bric Valdiana' is a version of Nebbiolo that perfectly represents the winery's traditional, classic style and the peculiarities of the Roero terroir. On the left bank of the Tanaro, the noble Piedmontese vine gives wines that are less powerful and structured than in the Langhe area; all played on the delicate finesse of the fruit. It is a very pleasant red wine to drink even when young and which at the table displays an extraordinary ductility in pairing.

'Bric Valdiana' is a Roero Rosso from the passionate work of one of the most interesting wineries in this area of Piedmont. The Giovanni Almondo winery is located in Montà and produces wines that are faithful to the region's traditions, using the region's main indigenous grape varieties. The Nebbiolo vines enjoy a splendid, sunny location, situated at about 350 metres above sea level, with a south-facing exposure, which guarantees excellent grapes ripening. The soil in the Roero area is characterised by soft, well-drained soils of a predominantly sandy matrix, with percentages of limestone, silt and clay. At the end of the harvest, the healthiest and ripest grapes are sent for fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with maceration on the skins for about three weeks. The wine matures for 18 months in large oak barrels and completes its ageing within a few months in the bottle.

Giovanni Almondo's Roero Rosso 'Bric Valdiana' is an excellent bottle that allows you to get to know the unique personality of Nebbiolo del Roero, interpreted by one of the area's leading producers. In the glass, it is a beautiful ruby red with garnet reflections. The olfactory picture is elegant and delicate, with aromas of redcurrants, raspberries, wild strawberries, morello cherries, floral nuances of violets and dried flowers, and hints of aromatic herbs and spices. Medium-bodied, it has a fine tannic texture, enveloping a harmonious, aromatically complex, fragrant, and multifaceted sip. The finish is fresh, savoury and with good taste persistence.
