PietraPura is a Salento brand belonging to the well-known Tuscan winery Rocca delle Macìe, launched on the market with the aim of enhancing native grape varieties by producing high-quality territorial wines. In pursuit of this goal, the Zingarelli family, owner of Rocca delle Macìe, collaborates with several important companies in the Salento region, including the Terre di Sava winery, the protagonist of Notte Rossa wines. Winemaking is then entrusted to Luca Francioni, Rocca delle Macìe's expert oenologist. PietraPura is part of the broader 'Collezione Zingarelli' project, which brings together several Italian realities such as Villa Vescovile in Trentino, Fratus in Franciacorta, Macchialupa in Campania, Fantin Nodar in the Colli Orientali del Friuli area and Ascheri in the prestigious Barolo territory, wineries with which the Zingarelli family collaborates to face the challenges of national and international markets.

The attentions of the PietraPura brand are directed towards Primitivo and Negroamaro, considered the most important grape varieties of the entire Salento region. In particular, Primitivo reaches its highest quality potential in the Manduria area, where the grapes vinified by the Zingarelli family for the PietraPura project come from. These are partly very old vineyards that benefit from the area's breezy Mediterranean climate. After the harvest, the grapes are processed through fermentation with maceration at a controlled temperature in order to enhance the wines' aromas. Once the maceration period is over, the pomace is drawn off and gently pressed, in order to extract the must impregnated in them. At this point the wines are placed to age in French oak barriques, containers that add further complexity to the wines.

PietraPura's signature labels reflect the warmth and smoothness of Salento wines, acting as ambassadors of the territory around the world. Among the flagships of the production is the Primitivo di Manduria Riserva 'Cotis', a rich and spicy expression of the grape variety.
