Paolo Scavino's winery is a historical reality in the Barolo area. It is located in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto, in one of the most vocated areas of the denomination. It was created back in 1921 by Lorenzo Scavino and his son Paolo, and today it is managed by Paolo with the collaboration of his daughters Enrica and Elisa, who carry on the family tradition with competence and passion. Paolo started working on the estate when he was a young boy and thanks to his experience between the rows, he has developed a deep knowledge of the territory and its main grape variety, Nebbiolo, a demanding and difficult variety to manage, which has settled well almost exclusively in the lands of Piedmont and is hardly able to give high quality wines outside its historical habitat.

Over time, Paolo Scavino has grown his company to its current 30 hectares, divided into numerous parcels located in different areas of the denomination. There are no less than 20 historical Barolo cru in which the winery has vineyards, located in: Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Novello, Serralunga d'Alba, Verduno, Roddi and Monforte d'Alba. A precious mosaic of vineyards of inestimable value, each with its own particular characteristics. Altitude, exposure, soil composition are all elements that contribute to making each individual plot a unique and inimitable expression of terroir. The estate thus represents a multitude of different nuances, of variations on the Barolo theme, each with its own distinct personality.

The winery's philosophy is based precisely on the awareness that the richness of the Langhe territory lies in its differences, in its multiform expressions, which give rise to different wines. Precisely in order to transparently render the authentic character of each individual cru, Paolo Scavino's winery has always placed the utmost attention on work in the vineyard, as the indispensable centre of all other activities. The first concern and ultimate goal is to obtain high quality grapes from each vineyard. The subsequent processing steps in the cellar are considered merely a means of preserving the varietal notes and character of each individual vineyard, while trying to intervene as little as possible from an oenological point of view. This results in elegant and refined wines that interpret the terroir with absolute fidelity.
