Passopisciaro Sicilian winery is very young, having been created in 2000, but is supported by the experience of many years of Andrea Franchetti, owner of the Tuscan estate of Trinoro, who, realizing the potential of the lava ground, decided to develop the wine business at Etna, buying 40 hectares of land.

Along these vineyards, which are scattered on six different "quarters", the winery has planted Cabernet, Merlot, Cesanese and Petit Verdot, but Andrea Franchetti, who is restoring the mansion house in which he decided to move, has especially restored the production of Nerello Mascalese, an old indigenous grape, not disdaining at the same time to experiment, through new systems, international varieties such as Viognier and Pinot Noir: this area at the foot of Mount Etna is considered as a new Burgundy.

Of all these varieties, however, the lion's share remains with the Nerello Mascalese, which, as has been complicit fabulous vintage 2004, has achieved a great reputation nationally and internationally and is the basis of almost all the Passopisciaro wines.

"È un vantaggio fare il vino in questo posto che tradisce la comune meteorologia e vive racchiuso nella stranezza climatica, è un posto vergine e deserto dove regnano immagini potenti che vengono fuori da forze senza nome"
