Lungarotti is a family-run winery located in Torgiano, Umbria. Founded in the 1960s by Giorgio, it is a production reality that, in a little more than fifty years, has managed to establish itself as one of the reference wineries in the region and beyond, making wine production a promotional tool for tourism as well. Today, Giorgio Lungarotti wineries are led by Chiara, Teresa and Maria Grazia, exponents of the presence of women in the world of wine, giving excellent results to say the least. The development of the winery over the decades, coupled with the resounding success that the labels are enjoying around the world, have led to a new company expansion in Montefalco, where a new estate has sprung up and, with the birth of several cultural poles, a Wine Museum to that of Oil and a Lungarotti Foundation. A true set of diverse realities, where agriculture, culture and history intersect thanks to the entrepreneurial vision of this great Umbrian family.
The vineyards of the Lungarotti wineries cover an area of more than 250 hectares. A truly remarkable extension, in which cultural techniques are innovative and always devoted to the respect of the surrounding nature, paying particular attention to the accumulation and conservation of water resources, nowadays more and more fundamental. Various white grape varieties, such as Vermentino, Grechetto, and Trebbiano, and red grape varieties, such as Sangiovese, Colorino, Merlot, and Sagrantino, are grown among the rows. The owners' motto can be summed up in the phrase "wine is made in the vineyard." Precisely in light of this, great attention is paid to environmental protection and green pruning operations in the period between spring and summer, in order to obtain grapes rich in aroma and flavor.
Every year, from the estate in Torgiano and the one in Montefalco, the Lungarotti winery gives life to a wide range of labels, elegant and suitable for every occasion, which, besides agreeing the palate of wine lovers, also strike the heart of national and international critics, obtaining, with each vintage, very high scores. Lungarotti wines transcend time, such as the "Rubesco Vigna Monticchio" or the "San Giorgio," and, in the case of the "Torre di Giano" and "Rubesco," also impress with their excellent value for money.
