CHIANTI COLLI SENESI RISERVA TORRE ALLE TOLFE 2019 DESCRIPTION

The Chianti Colli Senesi Riserva from the Tuscan winery Torre alle Tolfe is a label with a fascinating typicality that faithfully reflects the territory of origin, making it one of the winery's top labels. The estate's vine-growing roots go back to the 14th century, with written evidence that wine was produced on the estate. Today, Torre alle Tolfe's production is certified organic and the winery has always focused on the local Sangiovese, Colorino, Canaiolo and Ciliegiolo varieties, with the utmost respect for the environment and the consolidated local wine-making tradition.
Torre alle Tolfe Chianti Colli Senesi Riserva is made with only Sangiovese grapes grown on well-ventilated hillside soils 330 metres above sea level. The soil is rich in sandstone and marine fossils and agronomic management is based on organic farming principles. Harvesting is carried out by hand when the grapes have reached ideal ripeness and is followed by vinification in vitrified cement with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation without temperature control. Subsequently, the wine is transferred to chestnut barrels where it is left to age for about 10 months before final bottling.
Chianti Colli Senesi Riserva Torre alle Tolfe has an inviting light crimson red colour. The aromatic spectrum is composed of persuasive aromas of ripe red fruits, plum, violets and Mediterranean herbs, enriched by spicy perceptions of black pepper and tobacco. Soft and intense on the palate, juicy and fruity, with velvety tannin and a slight mineral vein on the finish. A red wine to pair with traditional Tuscan first or second courses such as pappardelle with wild boar ragout.
