Bossanova is not only a famous Brazilian music genre that was created in the 1950s by some of South America's most talented artists, such as Antônio Carlos Jobim, Vinícius de Moraes and João Gilberto. It is also the name of a winery in the Abruzzo region, which has made a name for itself with some very interesting wines. There is indeed a connection between the tradition of Brazilian music and wine. In the same way that the encounter of three extraordinary artists gave rise to an important and innovative musical movement, the encounter between Andrea Quaglia and Nat Colantonio, a manager and a musician, was the foundation for creating a new project in the field of winemaking, driven by a great passion for the land of Abruzzo.

The estate is located in the hilly area of Controguerra, in the province of Teramo. The vineyards cover a total area of about four hectares, in an area that has always been very well suited to viticulture, due to its particular geographical location. Located halfway between the high peaks of the Abruzzi Apennines and the Adriatic Sea, the Controguerra vineyards benefit from a rather cool, continental climate, mitigated by sea breezes, with significant temperature changes between day and night. Thanks to these favourable conditions, the grapes reach full ripeness slowly, accumulating very rich and intense scents and aromas.

The Controguerra area is particularly suitable for native vines, especially the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and Trebbiano Abruzzese varieties. It is precisely this presence of two major grape varieties that has protected the region from the widespread introduction of international varieties. The vineyards are managed following the principles of biodynamics and ancient traditions, in harmony with nature and respecting an unspoilt environment. Even in the cellar processes are minimally invasive, with spontaneous fermentation catalysed by indigenous yeasts, very low addition of sulphur dioxide during bottling and no addition of enological additives. In addition, wooden barrels are never used for vinification and ageing, but only vitrified cement tanks or amphorae (particularly for Trebbiano). The result of this minimalist approach is a pure and genuine wine that directly reflects the true character of the terroir.
