Situated in the beautiful setting of the Euganean Hills Regional Park, the Quintia winery is run with love and craftsmanship at a strictly family level. The history of the winery began in 1999 in the hamlet of Fontanafredda, in the municipality of Cinto Euganeo, where Franco Sinigaglia embarked on this beautiful adventure with the idea of producing wines that reflected the characteristics of the territory. Today Franco is supported in the business by his wife Fabrizia and son Matteo, forming a family team that embraces a production philosophy based on respect for the environment.
The Quintia estate extends over just 5 hectares of vineyards located in the heart of the Euganean Hills, cultivated by the Sinigaglia family in accordance with the principles of organic farming, certified since 2015. The area's ventilated microclimate allows healthy grapes to be obtained by resorting to few treatments, carried out strictly using only sulphur and copper. The vines, some of which are over 40 years old, rest on hilly soils of volcanic origin located at an altitude of 180 metres above sea level, characterised by a high concentration of trachyte and clayey marl, quite ideal for quality viticulture. On these soil and environmental parameters, the Sinigaglia family grows both traditional Veneto varieties, such as Garganega, Moscato and Incrocio Manzoni, and international varieties, such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Carmenere, always with very low grape yields per hectare. Due in part to the steep slopes of the vineyards, field operations are carried out by hand, including, of course, the harvest, which is accompanied by careful sorting of the bunches of grapes. The oenological approach excludes any invasive intervention, with strictly spontaneous fermentation, pellicular maceration even on the whites and the rejection of additives and oenological aids. Both cement tanks and old oak barrels are used as wine containers.
This is how the wines of the Quintia winery are born, authentic and genuine expressions with exceptional verticality, capable of reflecting the mineral soul of the Euganean Hills.
